You: The Client
There are many reasons people seek out Oriental Medicine or, in this case, Asian Bodywork Therapy. For example, are you intent on increasing your productivity and creative flow? Are you looking to optimize your health and recovery from an illness or injury? Do you have muscle fatigue, pain and stiffness from too much desk work? Are you contemplating pregnancy, expecting or a parent and want to nurture your body so that it is in prime condition to nurture others?
I am excited to get to know you, your specific goals, challenges and aspirations. To help you identify some of the reasons people seek out treatment please visit the Goals of Treatment page that lists a sampling of conditions that respond well to Asian Bodywork Therapy.
Me: The Practitioner
I came to study Acupressure and Shiatsu after my own health was remarkably transformed though Oriental Medicine. At the time I worked with adults and children who were experiencing the effects of mental illness, homelessness, developmental disabilities, and trauma. I had many opportunities to see how mental and physical health are intertwined, and how the cycle of illness, trauma and learned helplessness are perpetuated.
As my Asian Bodywork practice grew, I found myself going through my own life transformation, which informed and encouraged me to help others with their development. I find it especially rewarding offering support to people who are undertaking significant life challenges and transformations. I believe that when you bring the right people into your life, you create a dynamic and interdependent team, and good things happen.
You + Me = The Therapeutic Relationship
My style is light-hearted and engaging. My goal is to create a refuge where the full range of emotions and experiences can be explored with curiosity and fearlessness to promote health through balancing the body's energetic system - body, mind and spirit.
I look forward to learning your story - what brought you here, the sorts of remedies you have tried so far (successes and failures), your insights and barriers to health, and your short and long-term goals. I am keenly interested in helping you determine and achieve your best health potential, and I am excited to offer my partnership on this journey.
